How do I care for my jeans?Updated 18 days ago
🧼 How often should I wash my jeans?
Wash your jeans only after 5 to 6 wears.
No need to wash them every time: this helps preserve the natural patina of the fabric.
Got a small stain? A targeted spot clean will do the trick (see below).
🚿 Safe washing methods
Hand wash (recommended):
Soak in lukewarm water with a dose of dark fabric detergent.
Let sit for 45 min, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Machine wash:
Turn jeans inside out.
Wash cold at 30°C / 86°F, delicate cycle.
Use a small amount of detergent, gentle spin (600 rpm max).
Remove promptly after wash to avoid creases.
🌬️ Air-drying only
Avoid tumble dryers: heat damages the fabric and causes shrinkage.
Dry flat or on a hanger, in the shade.
Gently stretch the seams while drying to maintain shape.
🧴 Prevent fading and fix color
If your raw jeans tend to bleed:
Soak them in cold water with 1 glass of white vinegar + 1 handful of salt.
Leave for 30 minutes, stir occasionally, then wash as usual.
💦 Got a stain?
Use Marseille soap or gentle natural soap.
Wet the tip of the soap, rub lightly in circular motion.
Dab with a damp cloth—no scrubbing.
Repeat if needed.
❌ My jeans shrank – what now?
Slight shrinkage? Try this:
Slightly dampen the jeans.
Gently stretch the fabric with your hands.
Dry flat, pulling seams softly.
👖 Tips for jeans with elastane
Wash only when dirty (air out between wears).
Max 40°C / 104°F, no fabric softener.
Never twist or wring – press between towels to remove water.
Avoid tumble drying. If necessary, use a delicate setting and finish drying in open air.
Iron only if essential, at low temperature and always inside out.
🔥 Should I iron my jeans?
Not necessary if air-dried properly.
If you must, iron inside out, max 150°C / 300°F or low “1-dot” setting.
No steam needed.
